Sales Plummet Dramatically,Elon Musk Faces Cybertruck Flop

 After several issues, including a disastrous design, manufacturing flaws, and an exorbitant price, the Cybertruck has crashed in the market. Despite initial expectations of hundreds of thousands of units sold in its first year, the actual numbers have been disastrous. According to Tesla data, last quarter's sales were catastrophic, with a model that just can't take off among buyers.  

 

The Cybertruck by the Numbers

Tesla, in the last quarter, delivered 23,640 units of Model S, Model X, Cybertruck, and Tesla Semi. The Cybertruck is estimated to have only reached between 9,000 and 12,000 units. What's most concerning is that this model failed to convince buyers, and they continue to pile up in the company's dealerships and factories.    

Experts, in October 2024, estimated that around 27,185 units were sold, a figure far below initial expectations. And what's worse is that many of the reservations, over a million, were canceled due to continuous negative reports about the model's quality, social media, and forums.   

Why Did Musk's Favorite Car Fail?

We could say that the failure of the Cybertruck is due to a combination of factors, although the main one is the quality of its manufacturing. Elon Musk internally acknowledged that the dimensions of the metal body are too noticeable due to its straight-edge design. The defects, although small, are impossible not to see, creating a bad impression on customers. And it seems they don't have a simple solution.    

Of course, the price also played a fundamental role in this failure. The Tesla Cybertruck failed to offer a competitive quality-price ratio. According to designer Adrian Clarke, he states that the level of demand that users expect is unfeasible for mass production.
